On October 11, 2002 Congress approved the “Iraq War Resolution” giving the Bush administration authorization to invade Iraq. Six years later, after the deaths of up to a million Iraqis and over 4,000 U.S.troops, we see no end in sight! In July another $162 billion was approved in a bipartisan vote by Congress to fund the bloodshed in Iraq and Afghanistan through 2009. The political establishment is now also talking about sending 10,000 more troops to Afghanistan.

In Cleveland, Ohio this June, activists from around the county gathered for the National Assembly to End the Iraq War and Occupation. Out of this assembly it was voted to support a national day of protest on October 11. This protest falls on Columbus Day weekend, a commemoration of the brutal colonization of the Americas and genocide of the Native Americans. We are protesting to say no more blood for empire!

On Saturday, October 11, 2008, come out and send the message to Washington that we want these wars to end NOW! We want the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of all occupation forces from Iraq and Afghanistan. We are tired of our tax dollars being wasted on war, while our communities are falling apart, the economy is crumbling and people are
being kicked out of there homes. Take ACTION and join us on October 11th to end the war now!
